THE HISTORY OF MARFLOW

Constructed from Aluminium by 'Shore Boat Builders' in Canada, and first launched in 1982, ‘Marflow’ began her life as the William Garden designed ‘ABC’.

'ABC' was sold and renamed ‘ORA’ in the late 1980's and has previously enjoyed world cruising destinations far and wide including Alaskan, Atlantic and Pacific waters.

Renamed as ‘Act IV’ some time prior, ‘Marflow’s current owner found and then acquired the well travelled vessel in 2000 and, delivered her to Holland, where it soon became apparent that much work was required to return the vessel to her former glory.

A proposed refit quickly developed to become a re-build that saw changes to the hull, the superstructure, the sailing rig and, pretty much everything else besides. The work was so detailed that it took over 5 years, and with the involvement of several well known industry professionals, William Garden’s ‘ABC’ was sympathetically adapted, developed, and finally transformed into the new modern and elegant Mediterranean sloop that sails today.

‘Marflow’ is essentially a new build yacht with every possible component replaced with new. From the Electrical generators , Navigation and control systems, Mast and rigging, the vessel has been renewed truly down to every last nut and bolt. The original hull exists with extensive modifications, and the sailing rig cleverly revised from a cruising ketch to a powerful modern sloop design, all whilst retaining the spirit of the original vessel.
